The down time after Chicago has been over for quite some time. The new training block started awhile ago. We are now in what I consider to be the hardest part of the marathon block for me, building to peak volume, holding peak volume and doing a lot of workouts when you’re tired and with some type of injury you’re trying to manage. During this time I go to Dacono.
It’s a sneaky tough route of country roads where you can set up tables for your bottles, lock into a rhythm and try to keep lifting your legs as best you can. During this time you are trying to find fitness anywhere you can while it’s mostly shadowed by fatigue. 22 miles @ 5:46 pace. 6:48 down to 5:14. 115 miles for the week.
